Trademo Hermes, our trade intelligence MCP, now lives in Claude. Ask Claude a question about global trade, and it can answer using Trademo's data: buyers and suppliers, company trade profiles, shipment records, and commodity flows, all through natural language.

What is an MCP?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP), introduced by Anthropic, is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external data sources and tools through a common interface. An MCP server exposes trusted data, and any compatible AI assistant can access it securely without requiring a custom integration for every application.

In simple terms, MCP is how Claude reaches beyond its built-in knowledge and works with trusted business data in real time.

What Hermes Does in Claude

Hermes gives Claude access to Trademo's global trade data through four core capabilities:

• Buyer and supplier discovery. Discover buyers and suppliers by product, market, shipment volume, and shipment value.

• Company trade profiles. Retrieve comprehensive company trade profiles, including trade activity, trading partners, ports, and trade lanes.

• Shipment records. Search shipment-level import and export records.

• Commodity flow analysis. Analyze how products move across countries and trading partners over time.

Every capability works through natural language while preserving the precision of Trademo's trade filters, including HS codes, product keywords, countries, ports, shipment values, trade periods, and trading partners.

How It Works

Connecting Hermes to Claude is a one-time setup. Once connected with your Trademo account, Hermes becomes available inside Claude.

Every trade question follows the same flow:

1. Ask Claude a question in natural language.

2. Claude identifies that trade data is needed and invokes the appropriate Hermes capability.

3. Hermes translates the request into a structured trade query, applying filters such as HS code, product keyword, country, port, shipment value, or trade period.

4. Trademo searches its global trade dataset and returns the relevant shipment records, company trade profiles, buyers, suppliers, or commodity flows.

5. Claude presents the results in natural language and maintains the conversation, allowing follow-up questions to refine the same analysis.
